UAE e-invoicing: when does it apply to you?

- Revenue AED 50 million or more: appoint an Accredited Service Provider by 30 Oct 2026, go live by 1 Jan 2027
- Revenue under AED 50 million: appoint by 31 Mar 2027, go live by 1 Jul 2027
- Government entities: appoint by 31 Mar 2027, go live by 1 Oct 2027
- Business-to-consumer transactions are excluded for now
- PDF, Word, scanned or emailed invoices are not e-invoices
- Voluntary use allowed from 1 Jul 2026

Questions
Is a PDF invoice an e-invoice?
No. The Ministry of Finance says unstructured formats such as PDF, Word documents, images, scans and emails are not e-invoices. An e-invoice is structured data exchanged through an Accredited Service Provider.
Do I send e-invoices to the FTA myself?
No. The UAE uses a decentralised model: invoices are exchanged and reported through an Accredited Service Provider.
